Had "Old Fashions" instead of the usual Manhattans. Bourbon served over ice with a squished fresh quarter orange and cherry.

Bartender is always great here. She suggested we try the old fashions.

Broken Records on St. Patrick's Day - $5

They didn't have any sweet vermouth at first but the bartender made a phone call and found a bottle.

The bartender was good and the made good drinks. Price is always good and large here.

The two cooks were sick so limited menu today.

Little puppy in the bar - very cute.

A good mixed crowd. Ball playing crowd too.

Dada - $7.00

The Happy Hour lasted until 9:00pm. The $5 happy hour drinks were only for "certain" drinks. Our therefore ended up being $7. Did seem right.

The drinks were good even though the bartender had to top off.

We have started to notice that that many of the ice is really too watery to begin with which makes the drink watery too.

The bartender poured two beers while our Manhattans sat in the "ice". That is not cool.

The Brickhouse - $5

Both Manhattans and the food here tonight were served next to the window (our favorite) as the one chair is actually a real chair size.

We both had the seafood salad - Great!

The Manhattan are $5 - a bargain - not with the lethal red dyed cherries. We asked for orange rind instead. The bartender made a knot on the rind - cool - and no cherry juice. Great.

Madrone Art Bar - $4.00

Best Deal in Town!!!

Bartender is nice. "I don't like those fake ones" reference to the maraschino Cherries. He had REAL cherries. Yum!!

We came between 4-8pm for Happy Hour. The drinks were great - Did I already say that?

The art is fun here too. Serious. Wallpaper and mural cool. The art is not the usual art seen in bars. Thought it may be from the Art Institute. There is room for a band too. Dr. Strangelove projected onteh back wall. Has nice couches and high ceilings. The women's bathroom has pink walls. BTW the drinks stirred on shaken - acutally good - in this case. The waitress is wearing a rug! This is way cool.

Dinner at Herbivore.

The Phone Booth - $5.50

The Phone Booth is located in the Mission District. A great dive bar with a mix of people. Different colors, ages and sexual preference. The bar is dark but has candles to make a nice ambiance.

Manhattans good but a bit watery. Lots of Whiskey and bitters :-). Asked for no cherry juice which the bartender doesn't do anyway, he said. Nice big glasses

Dinner at Roosevelt Tamale Parlor on 24th street.

The Brickhouse - $7

This time the Manhattans were not as good as when we had been here before. Too much cherry juice. The waitress is still great though and the place was packed.

Had to wait for a table but he 5 minute wait was worth it.

A real candle and real flower. That's what we always want.

Hotel Utah - $6.50 and wild boar

Wild boars with mashed roots!! Delicious!!!!

How often will you walk into a bar and they service wild boar. And this was exceptionally good too.

It's hard to describe the Manhattans when the food was so special, but the drinks were good too.

The month of February was special food for Hotel Utah. They served rabbit and venison and duck too. Yummie!

We were extremely happy here.

Kezar Pub - $6.75

Light in color, we thought the Manhattans might be weak, but turned out to be good. Not sure why. Usually, that is not the case.

There were many sports TVs but mostly hockey which we didn't mind as much as the usual football, basketball. The energy in this place was great. Uplifting.

They serve food here too.

Argus - $7

With Maker's Mark, these Manhattans were big and real good. Mostly, we let the bartender make the drink with the less expensive ingredients, but if they ask if we want Maker's Mark since it is the way they like to make the drink, we usually say yes. Marker's Mark is usually a good drink.

Walked by Socha where they play classical music every Wednesday night. We like to stop by and listen but we wanted to stay longer to hear the performance.

This time it was moved to the back room and featured more experimental music than

usual.
